Aimee Monihan has over 16 years experience in the event and wedding industry.

As the very first wedding coordinator in Costa Rica, she paved the way for it to become a thriving and successful industry. Aimee is the creator and owner of two other associated companies (Tropical Occasions and Elopements in Costa Rica)  As each year she has seen the market change she has seen a need for specialized services and business within the wedding industry. Thus the birth of Santa Teresa Weddings.

Santa Teresa is Aimee’s favorite place in Costa Rica and she realized that it’s uniqueness deserved a company dedicated to this remote Oasis- all of it’s own.  Aimee currently lives outside Boulder, Colorado, USA   She oversees our US-based office as well as all marketing and sales activities. She continues to thrive in educating herself in the trends and creativity that the wedding market offers. She is a consummate wedding junkie and every trend or new idea gleaned from seminars, magazines, blogs, and of course constantly designing and planning new events.

Stephen Denton arrived to Costa Rica in 1975 at the young age of 5. After attending a bilingual private school he went on to pursue a B.S. in Political Science at Florida State University.  Upon arrival back to Costa Rica, he spent the following 7 years developing and managing a dive company in the remote area of Guanacaste. Desiring change, he went on to pursue and complete an M.B.A from the University of Costa Rica and marry his STBW partner Anahi Contreras.

Over the last 4 years he has worked in the area of event coordination and become Costa Rica’s premier wedding DJ.  Through all this time he has been a devout enthusiast in event planning and recently expanded his knowledge through several training courses.

Anahi Contreras was born in Paraguay from Diplomatic parents and spent the next 18 years of her life attending American Schools in Belgium, Japan and Brazil. After completing her B.S. at George Washington University in D.C. she landed in Costa Rica.

Over the next 6 years she worked at several NGO’s including the United Nations and The Earth Council. After completing her Master’s degree in Eco-Tourism and marrying her partner Stephen Denton she moved to Guanacaste.

For the last 5 years she has worked as Regional Director and Event Coordinator for Costa Rica’s premier event planning company Tropical Occasions.

Her love of event planning has always been present in her life, and her recent job has allowed her to develop relationships with most of Costa Rica’s top vendors.
